DESCRIPTION:Surface Gallery presents an exhibition of photographic wor
 k by Tom Lovelace.\nA selection of projects made over the last year wi
 ll be on display, including work from his latest series: Ruptures\n\nT
 he industrial landscape provides the stage on which Tom crafts, instal
 ls and excavates to create ephemeral objects and environments that exi
 st solely for the camera. Each scene is constructed life size, present
 ing disconcerting scenarios that lie in the cusp between reality and f
 iction.\n\n‘These works are part of an on-going project investigatin
 g the medium of photography and the visual possibilities when fused wi
 th sculpture and installation. I create and manipulate objects and pla
 ces that I then document with my camera. Each image is approached as a
  visual fragment from a larger manufactured world.\n\nI am constantly 
 drawn back to the industrial landscape and this is where most of my wo
 rk begins. I am interested in the point at which the mundane teeters u
 pon the fantastical.’\n\n\n\n\n\nTom studied at the Arts Institute B
 ournemouth, graduating in Photography (BA 1st Class Hons), before read
 ing Art History at Goldsmiths College, London. He has since exhibited 
 around the UK and has recently displayed work at Photofusion (London),
  Artsway\n(Hampshire) and been selected for the IPG/Terry O’Neill Aw
