What is your current practice?
My practice is based on the process and development of a piece into my own personal interpretation. Starting from the inspiration I get from what I see around me captured by taking abstract photographs of the environment, to then work with and develop by using a variety of materials.
I am particularly interested in material process, and how materials change the perception of a piece. I tend to use craft as a medium for my development being its very processed driven. I knit crude unrefined pieces, by deliberately creating holes or random change in pattern, almost having my own process in knitting. This is where my work bridges the gap between art and craft. I am almost corrupting the security of craft, by knitting such crude pieces.
I then develop these pieces further, this could be in the way I present my work or even completely developing them into another medium. Being as whenever I finish a piece I always tend to look at it and feel that so much more can be developed from it. By doing so I feel I can clearly express how my process of development has changed each piece through my personal interpretation and how to make the audience understand this. This directs my use of material and process to then interpret an image.
