Salary: £10.99 - £15.36 per hour, dependant on experience & qualifications
Hours: 4¼ hours a week - Saturday morning
Contract: Fixed Term - 8 weeks 01.10.12-08.12.12 (27.10/03.11half term)
Leeds College of Art has played a central role in providing specialist education in art, design and the crafts for more than 150 years and has a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our past students. On the 1st August 2011 we became the country's newest Higher Education Institution.
As an institution we have decided that we want to encourage children into studying Art and Design from an early age, and help them realise that in the long term that there are a wide range of future careers and opportunities open to them if they choose to study Art and Design. To this end we have decided to launch a Children's Art School targeted at children between the ages of 9 and 18 outside our main HE and FE programmes. This will be a fee paying provision and run on a Saturday morning and during school holidays.
We are looking for confident, self motivated individuals to assist in the development of our Children's Art School. We are launching the following programmes and are looking for staff to develop and teach the following courses:
Age Group : 9-12 (Year 5 -7) Mixed Media Sculpture
Age Group 13-16 (Year 8-11) Mixed Media Sculpture
Age Group 13-16 (Year 8-11) Fashion & Textiles
Age Group : 9-12 (Year 5 -7) Fashion & Textiles
Age Group 13-16 (Year 8-11) 2D Drawing and Printmaking
Age Group : 9-12 (Year 5 -7) 2D Drawing and Printmaking
Age Group : 15-18 (Year 11-13) Portfolio Development
You will need to be flexible and have relevant experience, including an art & design degree, teaching experience and an interest in working with these groups of students. You should either hold a teaching qualification or be in the process of attaining one. It is essential that if you are applying to work with under 12s that you have some previous experience in this area.
The post holder will initially be working on a Fixed Term Contract for 8 Saturday mornings between 01.10.12- 08.12.12. If this venture proves successful then additional classes are likely to run in the future subject to enrolments.
