*JOB DESCRIPTION*
Based at Glasgow’s Tramway,The Work Room, a new artist-led organisation, has been set up for the creation of dance works by independent dance artists in the city. It is now looking to appoint a highly motivated and well-organised freelance coordinator for the residency programme and to assist the Director and Associates in coordinating the core activities of the organisation.

The Work Room is established as a limited company, and has funding from both Creative Scotland and Glasgow City Council. The organisation is an artist-led membership structure, which was set up in 2008, in consultation with a steering committee, and following a feasibility study commissioned by the Scottish Arts Council from Ian Bramley.

The organisation is led by the Artists’ Panel and legally managed by a Board of Directors and the staff of the organisation work within that structure. The Work Room is in the process of restructuring and has agreed to the principle of a Director post and residency coordinator. As the Director will be on maternity leave from October we envisage that initially, the coordinator role will assume responsibility for part of the day-to-day functions of the organisation and at this period of time the development function will be outsourced external consultant. In the first instance the coordinator will report to the Board and on the Director’s return to work she will resume line management responsibilities for the coordinator.

The role will be for the equivalent of 3 days a week, £20k pro rata, for a nine month period in the first instance.

It is hoped that over time, the Residency Project Coordinator will be able to provide support to enable the develop The Work Room to the point where the role can become longer term and full-time. Until that point is reached, the role will be on a 9-month contract basis. There is the possibility of the Residency Project Coordinator developing an internship placement system, which could benefit The Work Room, with the organisation gaining free administrative support and the intern gaining valuable work experience in exchange.
