Blunderbus Theatre Company is looking for experienced PROP and PUPPETMAKERS.
This is a lovely opportunity to work with our talented creative team, in a highly collaborative environment.
You will be based at our fully equipped workshop in Newark, Nottinghamshire (2 minutes from the main rail link to Kings Cross, and the A1). Accommodation will be provided if required. The working week will based on a 5/6 rota pattern.
FOR PUPPET MAKERS, You will be experienced in using a variety of materials, and confident in poly and foam-carving & sculpting with plastazote. You will also be able to use lots of different puppet 'finishes'. As we’re a small creative team, you will also be a good problem solver when it comes to working out the mechanics and operation of each puppet.
FOR PROPMAKERS, You will be familiar with a variety of materials and able to interpret our ideas with imagination and flair. You will be experienced in using a variety of materials, and confident in poly and foam-carving & sculpting with plastazote. You will also have strong woodworking skills, and will be a competent scenic artist to provide the finishes on each of the props you make.
We're looking for somebody who is decisive, can work fast, meet deadlines, and has a high standards of finish as well as, equally importantly, work as part of a team. If you're used to a 9 - 5pm job, then this work would probably give you a heart attack. If you're happiest with technical drawings, pretty model boxes and somebody else to do all of the thinking for you, then this job will certainly kill you!
