The Everlasting Gaze from Amanda C Smith on Vimeo.

An extract from a longer piece.
The footage is shot around london and nottingham.
a rough cut, the music is Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts.

The footage is not 'cut' to the music at all.

The footage is exploring the gaze, being the 'surveyor and the surveyed' and the shift in power via the lens, between artist and subject when a moment of mutual engagement occurs.

The changing soundtrack is introducing 'Synchresis'(1) highlighting the role of the audience, emphasizing their share of creativity in the act of perception, taking their personal ‘mapping’ of the piece to a specifically individual experience, drawing from their own presumptions and interpretations.

opinions greatly appreciated!!!!
